Our Transportation Services

Wheelchair & Ambulatory Transportation in Northwest Wisconsin

Handi-Lift provides scheduled non-emergency transportation for individuals, families, healthcare facilities, and transportation programs. We help passengers reach medical appointments and other destinations with courteous service and attention to their transportation needs.

Wheelchair Transportation

Our rear-entry wheelchair-accessible minivans accommodate passengers using manual or power wheelchairs. Passengers can remain seated in their wheelchairs during transportation, with the wheelchair secured using a four-point securement system and the passenger protected by a lap-and-shoulder belt.

Our drivers assist with ramp access, wheelchair securement, and entering the destination. When needed, they can escort passengers to the appointment check-in area.

Please tell dispatch about your wheelchair's dimensions and any special accessibility needs when scheduling so we can confirm that an appropriate vehicle is available.

Wheelchair Accessible Medical Transport

Ambulatory Transportation

Ambulatory transportation is available for passengers who can walk independently or with a walker, cane, or other walking aid and can ride in a standard vehicle seat.

Drivers can assist with opening doors, loading and unloading mobility equipment, and boarding or exiting the vehicle. Please discuss any assistance needs with dispatch before booking.

Passenger Assistance

We want every trip to be appropriately planned for the passenger's needs.

Drivers provide transportation-related assistance but do not provide medical treatment, medical monitoring, manual lifting, or physical transfers between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs.

If a passenger requires physical transfer assistance, a caregiver or facility staff member must be available to help. Please let dispatch know if a caregiver needs to ride along so seating availability can be confirmed.

Medical Appointments & Facility Transportation

We provide transportation for a variety of appointments and transportation needs, including:

  • Primary care and specialist appointments.
  • Dialysis.
  • Chemotherapy and other scheduled treatments.
  • Physical, occupational, and rehabilitation therapies.
  • Wound care.

  • Same-day procedures when the passenger's needs are appropriate for non-emergency transportation.
  • Hospital discharges and transportation between facilities.
  • Behavioral health and substance-use treatment appointments.

We work with hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, agencies, and private-pay customers to coordinate transportation.
